What we collect, and what we don't
ExtraChicago is a curated editorial guide, and we keep data collection to a minimum. Google Analytics loads only after you choose Allow analytics and uses analytics cookies to measure page visits. We omit URL queries, search terms and referrer paths, disable advertising features, and respect Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control. You can withdraw consent using Analytics preferences at the bottom of any page. Google processes the resulting usage data. We do not sell personal data and we ask only for what a given feature needs — for example, the email address you choose to send us if you write in.
External links — to official transit, museum and landmark pages, to Booking.com on our Where to Stay pages, or to maps and images served from third-party hosts — lead to other parties with their own privacy practices, which we don't control. We'd encourage you to read their policies when you follow a link off ExtraChicago.
